Case Study - Fashion Portal

An international fashion retailer wanted to make a cyber fashion studio where its clients can design and customize their clothing and have it produced to wear at a reasonable price. The web based business model allowed for internet marketing strategies along with e-commerce facilities.


One of the two target user groups of the application included young girls who would choose apparels from a collection of design templates and then personalize the chosen item with size, color and various accessories (trims, rosettes, appliqués, etc.). This step by step design wizard with rich animation effects required detailed story boarding and careful blending of graphical representations.

The apparel thus created may be saved in a collection, shared with friend, added to shopping cart and ordered for shipping using gift certificates and discount coupons. The sharing allowed the client to do viral marketing using social media platforms like Facebook.

The e-commerce section allowed parents and elders to purchase gift certificates for the young designers using a payment gateway that supported PayPal and Credit Cards. Various seasonal offers and promotional discount coupons were generated form time to time to promote the gift certificates. 

As an e-commerce site, attention was given to Search Engine Optimization practices that make it easier for search engines to both crawl and index the site’s content. 

The site was also integrated to Google Analytics so that the business managers had insights into the  website traffic and their marketing effectiveness. The reports helped managers to update and enhance marketing plans and redefine business goals.

As a start-up company, the client needed very quick turn-around of features and new offers. This short release cycle was a key customer concern and ReliSource worked as a partner in proposing solutions to meet the time constraints.
