Surrge, Inc. wanted to build a referral based music e-commerce site that will tap the powers of social networking to give music lovers a common platform to contribute, share and promote music as well as buy, sell and earn commissions based on these activities.

This online application was modeled as a fan-driven, word-of-mouth repeatable distribution and referral channel that helps artists build their distribution network and fan base by rewarding listeners for promoting music of their choice. At present the site has more than 1.5 million songs

 
Surrge combines 3 popular J2EE frameworks Struts, Spring, Hibernate and the architecture focus was to separate the various layers as application, user interface, persistence logic, etc. Especial consideration was given to make the User Interface both rich and intuitive for music lovers ranging from professionals, amateur musicians and fun loving music listeners.
